I had the opportunity to attend FAM trip to Malta with the Malta Tourism Authority. I flew out on the 19th of May and got to experience an abundance of activities, and let me tell you, Malta is the place to be this summer! It is the perfect trip for everyone. Malta is extremely easy to get around as everything is so close together. The culture is practically oozing out of every city. You can experience amazing food, fantastic wine, great weather whilst filling your days with excitement.
Activities I would recommend to all
Rolling Geeks:
The Rolling Geeks are a fantastic way to get around. They are a self-drive electric buggy service that takes you around the three Cities. These are perfect for big groups, families, and couples. You can’t get lost as they have a programmed GPS and they allow you to go at your own pace so you can stop and take in the breath-taking views and take pictures for your memory books! It is an easy way to learn about the cities of Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea as there is an audio guide built into the buggies.
Casa Rocca Piccola:
The Casa Rocca Piccola is a great place to visit if you want to take in the culture of Malta and learn the History. This ‘live in museum’ is a 16th-century old palace that belongs to its original Maltese family and is the last one left. The De Piro family are extremely welcoming and want to share their history and collectibles with all. The Palace is filled with background history of Malta and they even have links to the Royal Family. If you visit don’t forget to say hello to their lovely pet parrot!
‘Yippee':
Yippee is a tuk-tuk company which offers tours around Gozo. This is a good alternative to the Rolling Geeks if you don’t feel comfortable driving on the Maltese roads. The tuk-tuks allow you to sightsee the beautiful island of Gozo. Tuk-Tuks bring visitors to see local hidden landmarks. They are great fun and incredibly comfy.
I would recommend Galaxy Charters to all! It’s the perfect way to party with friends, have a chill day in the sun with the family or even have a romantic evening on the water with your loved one. Galaxy Charters provides private boats to explore the glorious Blue Lagoon and Camino. When I say you won’t find clearer waters then here, you wont ever want to leave!
Gondola Ride:
This had to be the best taxi journey I have ever experienced. This is a water based taxi service which brings you from Valletta to the Three Cities where you can enjoy the Rolling Geeks. You can hop on the gondola to take you straight over or you can get a half an hour ride around the harbour for 8 quid!
St. John’s Co-Cathedral
This had to be the most beautiful cathedral I have ever stepped foot in. The minute you step in you are lost for words and mesmerised by all the beautiful gold filigree. St. John’s Co-Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. It also holds some of the great paintings by Caravaggio. These paintings are absolute eye catchers. If you are an art history fanatic, you will be amazed by the way Caravaggio plays with light. This cathedral is a must see.
